I love film for all the happy accidents. 99% of the time it will ruin a shot, but if you stick with it long enough you can get something pretty special (READ BELOW)

Any ideas what would have caused this? The film it was shot on was fresh Fuji C200, but apparently it was developed at the same time as a couple of expired rolls which the developer said might have contaminated them (I wasn't very clear what he meant). Is there any advice I should give him?
